History comes to life. The Bílinská kyselka Museum opened its doors with an exceptional exhibition and opens new spaces
BÍLINA – On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the ceremonial opening of the long-awaited physical exhibition took place Museums of Bílinské kyselkaA significant milestone was associated with the opening of an exhibition of oil paintings "In the layers (of landscape and time)" Roudnice Art StudioThe event was marked by perfect historical synergy and presented to the public not only art, but also the newly renovated premises of the spring headquarters.
The festive afternoon was attended by forty guests, who completely filled the vaulted spaces of the new museum. The exhibition "In Layers" itself brought a fascinating connection between history and art to Bílina. The exhibition arrived at the spring building directly from the historic stables (Gallery) of the Roudnice Lobkowicz castle.
The experience of the exhibited works was all the more powerful. "The canvases, among other things, bring to life motifs from the Lobkowicz brown coal mines. And all this takes place in a building that belonged to the Lobkowicz family, and just a few meters from the monument to Ambrož Reuss, the famous Lobkowicz geognostician and mining (mining) councilor," was said during the opening ceremony. The theme of layers of landscape and time thus intersected at one magical point in Bílinská kyselka.
The museum's vaults carry not only art, but also education
The exhibition, which will be on display at the museum for the next two months, is installed on the columns of the historic vault of the factory building of the springs headquarters in Bílina. The paintings are placed directly on the massive supporting columns of the reconstructed vaults, and each painting therefore has its own individual space. It is these columns that bear the weight of the new conference hall, which is located on the floor directly above the museum and which is also starting its full operation. The conference hall is located in one of the two large rooms built in 1898 to house machines for washing bottles and jugs - from the outside, however, in the style of a neo-Renaissance castle.
The hall will be used primarily for regular educational lectures for high schools and organizing professional conferences. Visitors to the opening had a unique opportunity to briefly look into these spaces. The wonderful views from the large-format windows and the breathtaking panoramic view of the spa surroundings literally captivated the guests. The whole impression was enhanced by the beautiful spring weather, and the views will soon be even more impressive when the surrounding flower beds in the spa park bloom.
However, the program of the Bílinská kyselka Museum is only just beginning with the opening of the physical exhibition. The museum invites the general public to regular lecture events and excursions, which will take place according to the current calendar (available at museum website) and which will guide visitors through the fascinating history of coal mining and healing springs in the region.
