Bílinská kyselka becomes a center of education. The historic hall with a panoramic view begins a series of public lectures
Bilina, March 2026 – A new era of meetings between professionals and the general public begins in the heart of the Bílinská kyselka spa complex. It opens its doors in March 2026 lecture hall, which will offer the lay and professional public a deep insight into the history and geology of our region.
The setting of the newly reconstructed spa architecture and the revitalized forest park gives the place a dignified atmosphere that invites you to stop and reflect. The hall itself offers a unique panoramic view of the reconstructed historical buildings, dominated by the monument to the Reuss father and son.
Just the character Dr. František Ambrož Reuss symbolically connects the topics of the upcoming lecturesReuss, often called the "father of Bílinská kyselka", was not only at the birth of the fame of the local healing springs, but also as Royal Council on Mining and Geology He also described the basic geognostic features of the region and introduced the general business public to the possibilities of its exploitation. In one person, the history of spa tourism and the beginnings of coal mining in northern Bohemia are combined.
"The goal is not just to present data and numbers, but to build a place for dialogue in a dignified environment. We want to show that our mineral wealth has two faces – the one that gives us health through healing spa springs, but also the one that has shaped the character of our industrial landscape," the organizers say.
Topics of lecture series:
- The phenomenon of healing springs: History of bottling and use of drinking spa springs and connection with the spa in Teplice.
- Geological and technical memory of the region: From rare minerals to coal mining, which defined the shape of today's cities and streets.
- Wealth protection: How to protect the resources we have and how to understand the connections between mining and the landscape.
The project aims to support local tourism and pride in the region, where people become tourists in their own city with a completely new vision of what they encounter every day.
This entire activity perfectly captures Dr. Reuss' creative motto: "It is a shame to live in your native land and not know anything about it."
